PROJECT 2: i) First part - code the Feautrier solver for a true formal solution (source function fully known) - code one of the 1-st order schemes (short characteristics or DFE) - formalism is described in detail in Chap 8. (to be found at http://aegis.as.arizona.edu/~hubeny/SA3) - take a test case, for instance that presented in Sect. 8.5, with a simple source function that allows for an analytical solution, and test the accuracy of the method on the number of depths (as done in 8.5), and also on the angle mu. ii) Second part. - code the Feautrier scheme for a solution of the coherent scattering problem, with the Variable Eddington Factors scheme - described in Chap. 9. (section 9.4). The papers are due, and the short 5 minute presentations of the group representatives will be held, on Tuesday, Oct 30.
